Just have one. I would do some damage at a lure swap probably. One of the baits I have is a one-of-a-kind 12" straight Creek Chub built for me specially by the late Harry Heinzerling of Creek Chub in Garrett IN. This was of course back in the pre-big bait days when 8" baits were the biggest ones you...

I know I'm in the minority here but when drifting/casting, I can't do the bow-mounted motor. Too much multi-tasking with the foot control. The transom-mounted electric seems so comfortable and precise. The only times I use the front mount are for high-speed trolling (front mount is more efficient) o...

Murray reminds me of a lake that I used to live on, in Minnesota. It seems to have a cold-water bloom. It gets clearer as the summer sets in and clouds up in the fall as most other lakes are clearing. The other lake in Minnesota had a very similar shape and size, steep edges and a cisco population, ...

Stocking is a matter of public record and easy to access. Just go to www.michigandnr.com/fishstock and you can get stocking figures for any species you want.

I agree with the Kid's summary on Osterhout. Bankson is more of a classic muskie lake with plentiful weed growth right down to 14 or 15 feet, and lots of cabbage weeds, not common in most other SW Michigan lakes. Good water quality and access to deep water in most places. Pretty easy to pattern if t...

Fluorocarbon should be fine. I use hard-finish Maxima Chameleon, which is stiff enough to turn over well without flopping. Use something in the 20-lb. area if you are going to go non-tapered and just a single weight. If you taper, try going from 40# (at the fly line) to 30# to 20# at the bait, and t...

I use a wool glove underneath with a nitrile sized glove over it. I used to use latex on top but they were a little tight. With the latex allergy deal in medical supplies, now nitrile is the non-allergic option for medical gloves. You need to get the largest sized nitrile glove you can, not a one-si...

Lon, I would say, go right ahead if you stay at a resort. They have an interest in putting you on the fish. A key feature of Lake of the Woods fishing is the quality of the maps available for the lake. Available at the Thorne Bros. website and other places, the Canadian nautical charts that have Whi...
