Lake Diane

Does anyone know what type of ice (if any) is on Lake Diane? Is it open water? Any information would be appreciated.

I use old St Croix rods that are 8' MH. The action is comparable to an XH for some companies. There really isn't a need for a super stout rod since the rig should pull free easily you're really only moving hooks and some leader in their mouth. In all situations you'll be very close to the fish when...

I use a XXXH 7'9" St Croix rod that is rated to 30 ounces and a 6'9" rod for suckers. I would think that you do not need a very expensive rod just a fairly stout rod. If you fish alone I would consider the rod length as landing a fish by yourself with a 8' or 9' rod would be a real challenge. Good l...

I havent heard of any large fish being taken. Talking with the bait shops though a fair number of 37"-41" Pike were taken. Maybe Smada could help me here with what he has heard. I will be out opening weekend morning early, then little league opener, then back for the whole week off for fishing and ...

I use both Navionics and Lakemaster in my Humminbird and they both have strengths and weaknesses. All of what Will said as benefits are true and they are useful. I would try and look at the specific lakes that you fish and see which chip gives the better details that you are looking for and work fro...

Re: Finally got my GPS!

It took long enough but the things finally worked out and I was able to buy a GPS for the boat. I got an Eagle FishElite 480 on eBay for under $300. Not the fanciest unit but it's better than guessing my way back to Selfridge like I did last year. Can't wait for April 30! Check online for forums fo...

I use the Palomar and double the line as shown on the link below from Power Pro. I make sure I wet the knot and I leave at least a one inch tag end.
