I personally wouldn't reccomend it for much except dawgs, maybe topwaters. I have had mine for 3 years now and have had to send it back to Abu Garcia each of the last three years for various problems. The high gear ratio ( 6.3 to 1) makes it really tough to fish bucktails, big cranks, or about anyth...

Nice job. If even only 1 person reads this and takes it to heart it has done good. Thank you.

I myself was fortunate enough that I had the most "free" summer I've ever had. No girlfriend, no softball leagues, no golf leagues, nothing. The only thing keeping me from fishing at any time I wanted was my Mon-Fri 7-3:30 job. I am also blessed to have multiple lakes within 25 minutes away, and my ...

54 fish caught (15 trolling, 39 casting) 260.75 hours fished 9 fish 44" or bigger 4 fish 46" or bigger 48.5 largest Also thought I had a 50lber on one day, only to realize I had foul hooked one of Austin's infamous mega-carp. Only kept him on the hook for about 5 seconds but man did that fish have p...

Those look like they'll entice a musky just fine, especially at certian times of the year. The bigger concern I would think is the quality of the components the baits are made out of. The wire the bait is made of, the split rings, and hooks all need to be as strong as can be because a musky can do t...

I fish them both quite frequently. Your best bet would be Austin. Better get out there this year though because after another winter spearing season there probably wont be much left out there. Good luck and welcome to the site.

I sure hope it cools down by the Austin Lake outing on the 28th. Anybody know how fast that lake typically cools down? From what I saw it looked shallow all around. Should be fine by then. It cools really fast and is generally cooler even during periods of really hot weather than many lakes due to ...

No fishing for me anytime soon I guess. Thanks for the info on Thorn. I'm glad I didn't waste my gas driving up there only to be greeted by mid- 80's temps.

Let me clarify what I said earlier. I never would advocate a "locked down" drag. I just said I like it real tight, but even then with 80lb power pro it still will slip slightly, until I get to loosening it which I do every time I get a fish on regardless of size. Just depends on each fish. And I sur...

Thats no good at all. I took tomorrow off work to hopefully fish Thorn for the first time. Do you think the rain (if we get any) will help much? I assume Austin is way too warm. I need to find somewhere to fish if possible I really dont want to waste this vacation day sitting at home.

Where does everyone keep there drag for fishing? Do you let the fish run a lot until it gets tired? Do you let it run but then horse it in just before it stops? I like to keep my drag about as tight as possible, but immediately after the hook set I will back off as needed. I want to make sure I can...

Heads up for Austin on 5-29

Just giving a heads up to anyone who may be heading to Austin on 5-29-10 that not only is it opening day of bass season but there is going to be a rather large bass tournament going on also. I talked to 2 seperate boats last Sunday who were "pre-fishing" for it, and I also personally know 3 groups o...
