Re: Muskegon and Mona Lakes

I've seen a pic of a muskegon fish that was claimed to be 48 and looked like it.

Not sure fish in mona could be 51 inches yet. I know some bass guys that claim they always got musky in there before we even stocked by the dnr back in 2013 or whenever it was. Never got real proof from them though

Re: Reels for big blades

The new Lexa 400HD's @ at 6.3 work well with Double 10's.. i haven't tried anything bigger on them. You can do a nice consistent crank with them, but if you try to burn them with the 6.3 400HD you will tire out quickly. Otherwise you can drop down to a 5.1 or whatever the step down is and it will be...

Re: Top producer

Side to side topwater by far gets the most attention for me.

After that burning smaller single blade bucktails has produced far more for me than bigger blades on our pressured inland lakes.

Also rubber of all kinds

Re: Reel?

I have an hd 8.1 for screaming in small stuff.

Pretty sweet reel all around. Works great for lots of other baits you need a quick pickup on

Re: 2016 Goals/Plans

I would just like to get out a little more than last year. I hardly fished from August on. Maybe only a few trips, hoping to consistently fish the entire season other than my yearly trip to canada

Being new to muskie fishing you may find the subwalk hard to use unless you are using a light leader, and light rod.. That lure does not do well with heavier rod's or heavier leaders.. Works pretty well on my spring rod and light wire. Also Blue fox super bou's are ok, but blue fox also builds their...

It will throw Magnums fine, and you CAN throw pounders with them, but expect to be exhausted if u fish pounders for an extended period of time with it.
